This is what Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has to say on the 'big AI winner' of tomorrow

artificial intelligence will likely have created a personal digital agent that can perform certain tasks for people. Gates said that the technology race to win is the development of the top artificially intelligent agent, poised to disrupt search-engine, productivity and online shopping sites. He was speaking at I Forward 2023, an event in San Francisco hosted by Goldman Sachs Group Inc and SV Angel.

He said that over the years, various industry players have worked on building a computer assistant, powered by AI, that consumers can command by speech or text to handle a range of tasks for them. “Whoever wins the personal agent, that's a big thing,” Gates said.

Painting a not-so-happy picture for shopping giant Amazon and search giant Google, Gates said that “You'll never go to a search site again,” he said. “You'll never go to Amazon.”

“Whoever wins that, it will take the current dispersed high-profit areas and move it to a single area,” Gates said while explaining how the notion of a capable personal assistant could impact the current businesses of tech giants like Google-parent Alphabet and Amazon.

Gives "fifty-fifty chance"
Gates reportedly said that there is a fifty-fifty chance that this future AI winner will be either a startup or a tech giant. “I’d be disappointed if Microsoft didn’t come in there,” Gates said. “But I’m impressed with a couple of startups, including Inflection,” he added, referring to the startup Inflection, as per a report in CNBC.

Inflection AI is a startup co-founded by entrepreneur Reid Hoffman, co-founder of Microsoft owned professional networking giant LinkedIn.
